NAACE to extend award

The National Association of Advisers for Computers in Eduction (NAACE) has teamed up with Becta to produce a quality assurance scheme for ICT in schools.

The association currently offers a “NAACEmark” award in literacy and numeracy and felt the time was right to extend the scheme.

As well as promoting the importance of ICT for learning, the scheme also aims to improve its use as a management tool.

“The scheme recognises the excellent practice of management, use and leadership of ICT across schools,” said Owen Lynch, chief executive of Becta.

To receive the award, schools will need to fulfil ten criteria, developed in conjunction with Cambridgshire LEA, which has trialled the scheme in a number of its schools.
