Fried food, fizzy drinks and chips are being outlawed in Glasgow primaries after a healthy eating project showed pupils can be persuaded to drop their favourite nibbles and tipples. Pupils said school dining halls laced “street cred”. Converting them into “fuel zones”, already popular in secondaries, helped to raise cash sales by 80 per cent in 17 pilot schools. Use of free meal tickets rose by 4 per cent.
