Need to recruit special teachers

29th October 2004, 1:00am
In order to address the issues raised by the recent Office for Standards in Education report on teaching children with special needs (TES, October 15) the Government urgently needs to consider an effective strategy to recruit and retain teachers of children with special needs, and in particular teachers of the deaf.

Through implementation of specialised recruitment strategies, teachers and parents alike will see that not only can inclusion work, but it can deliver real results.
