Most newly-qualified teachers (89 per cent) say having their lessons observed by more experienced colleagues is the most helpful aspect of their induction year.
Two-thirds feel induction provides a bridge between training and first jobs, while their heads and tutors say it helps NQTs to become more effective teachers, according to research from London University’s Institute of Education.
A third of the 542 surveyed said their school’s induction provision was limited or of poor quality.
