No cheques, please

Newsreader Martyn Lewis has a rival. Father Noel Barry, managing editor of Flourish, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Glasgow, has sent good news guidelines to all Catholic schools.

Barry knows what he wants - and doesn’t want: “What we get tends to be news of big cheques for charity or of sponsored silences. What’s missing almost entirely is news of the curriculum in action. I believe that schools should be using Flourish and the secular media to explain what makes a Catholic school different.”

He also wants schools to appoint a media contact. Whatever next, spin doctors?
