No regrades in GCSE English

Pupils in England caught up in the GCSE English grading scandal will not be regraded after the High Court rejected a challenge to the results last week. Pupils, schools, teaching unions and local authorities had argued that the increase in grade boundaries between January and June last year was a “statistical fix” and an “abuse of power” by exams regulator Ofqual and the Edexcel and AQA boards. The court ruled that they acted within the law and the “unfairness” lay in the structure of the qualification.
