The NSPCC is inviting schools to sign up to Number Day 2009, the charity’s annual sponsored maths challenge for schools, which takes place on December 4.

Last year, 15 Scottish schools raised over pound;4,600 for the charity, which works to protect vulnerable children and young people from abuse.

Teachers can register online to download their Number Day pack, filled with fun, fundraising maths activities for all ages.

Games include a sponsored Who Wants To Be A Mathionaire?, based on the TV game show, in four editions to suit pupils aged four to 16. An entrepreneurial task, “Be the Boss”, challenges S4 pupils to raise pound;100 through a fundraising event with a budget of pound;50.

All the money raised through Number Day will benefit the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal, which aims to raise pound;50 million over three years to expand the NSPCC helplines, text and online counselling services.
