Ofsted chief’s ‘all-time low’ remark riles

Sir Michael’s call for teachers’ pay to be influenced by their teaching performance makes my heart sink. It coincides with the Next Gen Skills campaign calling out for more ambitious and creative IT teaching. Teachers cannot do both. As Massachusetts Institute of Technology research shows, money is not a motivator. If you want employees to master their craft you have to pay them enough that money is not an issue and give them space to be creative.
