I think the jokey nickname of OFTOT for the early-years directorate (TES, February 2) should now be put to rest.
The name gives rise to a misunderstanding, which crops up in your article, where OFTOT’s approach is contrasted with OFSTED’s as if they wererival organisations.
They are of course one and the same, though inspection style will recognise the difference between school and early-years.
