Sweetness all around at the Lib Dems’ Inverness conference last weekend as they manufactured a classic fudge on removing the rights of Catholic schools (page five). They ducked the issue, while of course favouring nondenominational schools in principle.
Had delegates backed the extreme position on the removal of rights, the leadership might well have headed for the exhibition arena, where the Scottish Gas stall backed onto the Scottish Voluntary Euthanasia Society stall.
