MOST parents avoid discussing careers with their teenage children because they fear the subject will lead to rows, according to a new survey. The Learning and Skills Council polled 300 parents and found that seven out of 10 preferred to steer clear of the subject to maintain a peaceful home life. But 74 per cent of those quizzed said they would step in if they felt their offspring were pursuing the wrong career, although half of them did not know what options were available to 16-year-olds.
