Pheasant-shoots on the taxpayer?

Private schools claiming charitable status have been accused of going too far by offering “luxuries” such as golf, beagling and pheasant shooting while being subsidised by the taxpayer. The claim came from the Education Review Group of educationalists at a legal challenge to the Charity Commission’s guidance on what schools must do to justify their charitable status. The Independent Schools Council is seeking to have the guidance quashed.
