To celebrate “Einstein Year”, 100 years after the great scientist published three papers that changed our understanding of the universe, the Institute of Physics is putting some intriguing classroom resources about physics onto the internet. Weather allows students to test their knowledge in a quiz about isobars, anticyclones and occlusions, or to learn how to interpret the puzzling maps that appear just after the TV news. They can exchange meteorological information with other young Europeans or make clouds and tornadoes in the classroom. All that’s needed is a jam-jar, some food colouring, washing-up liquid, ice-cubes and a little imagination.
