Poetic justice

On a similar theme, great celebrations in a central belt secondary on National Poetry Day. After a welter of hard work from the English department, corridors were festooned with poetic scribblings, the local press were in place and the awards were made to the winners.

An S2 miscreant had confounded her critics by producing the best poem in her year. Self-congratulatory thoughts froze a little when the prize presentation of two tickets for the local Super Cinema was met with a glum face and a return to predictable, if non-rhyming, form: “Aw **** - I’m banned from there for life.”
