* I read with pleasure the fact that the powers-that-be now recognise the need for creative thinking (TES, March 28).

However, Iā€™m sure like many others my heart sank at the thought of yet another government pack. When will they realise that the basic problem is that there is just too much in the present key stage 1 curriculum?

This overload is preventing children from having the time to think creatively. The curriculum makes them into empty vessels just needing to be filled, not real partners in their learning.

Come on, be bold, make radical changes to the curriculum and then we will see a real and sustained rise in standards
