I WAS interested to read professors Bruce, Pascal and Sylva defend the foundation stage profile by stating that it will take only 35 minutes per child to complete (TES, May 9). Our 78-place nursery has two-and-a-half hour sessions in the morning and afternoon. By my reckoning, it would take the teacher 45 hours and 30 minutes to assess everybody - at five hours a day, this works out at just under a fortnight.
Let’s hope nobody needs help painting, going to the toilet - or with being taught anything!
