A game of balancing magnetic pieces has scooped the top prize in a contest for scientific toys.

Polarity, which involves players suspending magnets in mid-air, was awarded the ultimate accolade in the first Science Museum Smart Toy of the Year Awards.

It beat four other educational toys to the top spot, including a brain-teasing kaleidoscope puzzle, a slimy alien and an erupting volcano kit.
