Pupils forced to sit 11-plus three times

22nd December 2000, 12:00am
WOULD-be grammar-school pupils were forced to sit the 11-plus three times in a mix-up at Ripon grammar, North Yorkshire, where parents voted to keep the selective system in the first national ballot on selection this year.

A total of 38 hildren - recalled after narrowly failing the original test - were presented with identical papers the second time round. Although invigilators allowed them to complete the exam, they were called for a third time to sit a new test.
