Quotation from Lord Byron’s Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage, canto 4, stanza 170, part of a lament on the death of Princess Charlotte, aged 21.
She died in childbirth and the baby was stillborn.
Charlotte was the child of George IV and Queen Caroline. Her death in 1817 was quite unexpected and shocked the public who loved her
