RAP POET Benjamin Zephaniah’s dramatic resignation from the Government’s creativity task force has left his fellow luvvies baffled. Famous for such lines as “dis policeman is kicking me to death”, Zephaniah claimed that Education Secretary David Blunkett has meddled with the committee’s report, due out next month.

The chairman, Professor Ken Robinson is sorry to hear this, but wonders how the poet came to such a view. Zephaniah, a (very) outside bet as the next poet laureate, has graced only two of the 30 meetings held so far.
