Refugees should be given greater encouragement to work in English schools, an advisory group has recommended. The Employment Forum, which campaigns for integration of asylum-seekers, held a seminar this week for local authority staff and teachers’ organisations to discuss what could be done to create a fast-track requalification programme for refugees. An estimated 10 per cent of employable refugees have worked as teachers in their home countries. www.employabilityforum.co.uk
