From the building materials company Tarmac comes a new website to help teach children about minerals in the earth and how we extract them. The site offers information about rock, sand and gravel quarries with lesson ideas for science and geography at key stages 2 and 3.
There are also sections showing how these natural resources relate to building, archaeology, ecology and recycling, with further lesson ideas for citizenship and ICT. On the Gallery page, pupils can upload their work and win prizes for the best websites, essays and drawings submitted.
