The Federal Government in Australia is running into trouble over its AU$16.2 billion (pound;9.8 billion) school renewal programme, Building the Education Revolution (BER). Intended as a bid to stimulate the economy, critics have claimed it is plagued by waste as contractors charge high fees on projects. A third more school buildings could have been built if costs had been kept in check, they claim.
