Parents took out a total of pound;46 million in bank loans to pay for private school fees this year, according to estimates from Sainsbury’s Bank.
The bank advised parents - who are borrowing an average of pound;10,407 - to shop around, after the survey of its customers showed only 38 per cent got more than one quote before taking out a loan.
