GIRLS outperform boys at GCSE because they believe they must work harder to overcome sexism in the world of work, according to new research. Many teenage girls expect to encounter sex discriminaton in the adult workplace and believe they need better GCSE results than boys to succeed, Dr Becky Francis, of the University of Greenwich, found after interviewing 100 GCSE students.
