Slip in a bottle

Congratulations to Eaton Mill school in Milton Keynes for injecting a bit of life into its advert for a head in last week’s TES.

It said it would welcome “someone who could enjoy a bottle of wine with the governors”. Paul Stewart, chair of these governors, explains they did not want an alcoholic but a “real person ... not completely obsessed by educational standards”. All very laudable but it seems sadly inevitable that the politically correct may be interested in exploring the unintended implication that Muslims, Methodists and anyone else who does not fancy a boozy night with the board need not apply.
