Nursery and primary children are more likely to be aggressive if their mothers smoked when pregnant. New research, conducted by academics in Canada and the Netherlands, reveals that children of pregnant smokers are more likely to display violent behaviour. Children whose parents have a history of anti-social behaviour, such as illegal drug use are also predisposed to aggression. But it is smoking that significantly increases the likelihood of violent or aggressive offspring.
