Sorely missed?

A newly retired primary teacher told the General Teaching Council of her changed circumstances and was not well pleased to get the following letter: “I acknowledge receipt of your letter regarding re-registration and note that you no longer wish to have your name retained on the register.”

She told Jotter: “How’s that for a curt dismissal? Considering that it’s been people like me who have been paying their salaries for almost 30 years, the words ‘long, happy and healthy retirement’ wouldn’t have gone amiss.”
