Spaced out in ancient Egypt

Midnight in Memphis (Mammoth Pounds 3.99) by Tony Bradman is a zany tale in the Blue Bananas series for beginner readers. A spaceship lands on a pyramid and the little green drivers drop off a hippy passenger, leaving a giant crack in the home of the Mummy family (Mummy Mummy, Daddy Mummy, Tut and Sis). Repairs are undertaken by the Concrete Sisters, labourers shown in all their heavy-armed glory by the illustrators. Other Blue Bananas to recommend are Horse in the House by Brian Morse and Riff-Raff Rabbit by Alison Ritchie.
