A THIRD of children who take part in a sports programme involving top stars become more active. More than 300 celebrities, including five-times Olympic rowing champion Steve Redgrave and footballer Alan Shearer, have visited schools as part of the Sporting Champions scheme. Project organisers Sport England surveyed 561 children, and found that 38 per cent said they had taken up a new sport since the visit.
