The proportion of youngsters attending Scotland’s 150 independent schools has barely changed in 10 years, according to census data issued this week.
The 30,344 pupils in the independent sector represent 4 per cent of Scottish pupils. Numbers in primaries have been declining steadily, while those in secondaries have remained static since 2002.
