State team to take on Eton

10th December 2004, 12:00am
Sixth-formers from Bournville school, Birmingham, will be the second state school to compete in an Eton Wall Game next Easter.

Described as “open warfare”, the object of the game is to get a ball, slightly smaller than a football, to one or other end of a 118-yard brick wall separating the playing fields of Eton from Slough Road.

The first state school to take on Eton at its own game was Walton high, in Walton-on-the-Hill, Staffordshire, whose team was thrashed 4-0 in September.
