Struggling to get head

21st January 2005, 12:00am
* Almost 1,000 schools in England and Wales struggled to find a new head last year, as the number of posts advertised hit a three-year high, writes Dorothy Lepkowska. In 2004, nearly 2,700 schools (11 per cent) had to look for a new head with hundreds having to re-advertise. In 2000, there were a record 446 vacancies. Church schools, those in London and small rural schools were most likely to have to re-advertise.
