Students capture Yorkshire twang

They like what they say and they say what they bloody well like. But, from now on, Yorkshire men, and even Yorkshire women, when they can get a word in edgeways, have what they’ve always wanted - a willing audience.

I hear Craven college has been given pound;19,800 of national lottery money to “explore and document the way people in the Dales have used language to forge identity”.

So, from now on, lifelong Dales-dwellers who raise their voice could find themselves accosted by a member of an army of 16 to 20-year-olds which is searching the county, recording equipment in hand, looking for the perfect Yorkshire twang.
