What do you most enjoy about your job?

That the recent inspection of children’s services said that staff in Edinburgh were “inspiring” and I get to work with them every day.

What do people not know about your job that they should know?

That, by working together across the city, we have got the number of school-leavers in positive destinations at the highest level in 15 years.

Why did you start subscribing?

When I moved to Edinburgh from England in 2007.

What else do you read regularly?

Holyrood magazine, The Scotsman and Edinburgh Evening News.

Who would you like to see writing in TESS?

My 8,000 staff writing about the great work they are doing.

What do you see as the big issue for Scottish education?

Its key role in breaking the cycle of disadvantage for children and their families.
