An investigation is being launched into the poor GCSE results at the country’s largest super school. New College, with 1,600 students, achieved the worst results in Leicester for the second year running, with only 13.1 per cent of pupils getting A* to C grades. The national average is 58.1 per cent. Last year New College had a 14 per cent pass rate. Steven Andrews, Leicester’s education chief, and Jim Collins, New College principal, said the results were disappointing.
