Surplus assets

Glasgow City Council’s building services organisation has been awarded an pound;83 million contract to build 11 new primaries over the next two-and-a-half years.

Unlike the city’s programme for rebuilding and refurbishing its 29 secondaries, which was carried out under a controversial public private partnership deal, the rolling programme for primary schools is being paid for from the council’s own pocket, partly thanks to an historic sell-off of surplus land and assets.
