Swede and light

7th November 1997, 12:00am
The works of Sweden’s greatest design innovators are on display in “Carl and Karin Larsson: Creators of the Swedish Style” at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, until January 18. The exhibition shows how the Larssons rejected the heavy and grandiose decor of the 1890s for the light, airy, beautiful, informal and functional. The exhibition recreates cottage room settings with more than 400 wall-decorations, brightly-painted furniture, clothes, textiles and watercolours. A study day has been organised for December 6, fee Pounds 28 (to book, tel: 0171 938 8638). For further information, tel: 0171 938 8349.
