Table talk

15th September 2006, 1:00am
Two roundtable discussions at this year’s festival provide a forum for informal debates on the role of local authorities and on Scottish publishing.

What should the relationship between schools and local authorities be and how could local authorities support schools better? If you want to have your say, drop in at Hall 1 on Wednesday at 12.30pm.

Alternatively, the Scottish Publishers Association, supported by TES Scotland, will hold its own discussion for teachers and publishers on Wednesday at 4pm. Only two publishers specialise in educational material for Scottish schools - Hodder Gibson and Leckie and Leckie. The SPA would like to stimulate more contributions from its 75-plus members, so it would welcome teachers’ contributions on the place of Scottish material within schools, the needs and the gaps in available resouces.
