Tesco is offering schools four telephones they can plug into computers so pupils can make free calls over the internet. It plans to spend pound;750,000 to improve teenagers’ communication skills. Tesco commissioned research by Professor Tony Enery, head of linguistics at Lancaster university, who found that teenagers used a vocabulary half the size of those aged 25 to 34.
