The Sunday tabloid’s political editor deserves an ‘F’ for comprehension. In its enthusiasm to use the punny headline “Bombay Levels”, the tabloid confused on-screen marking, used for millions of UK papers, with outsourcing marking to India - which is not done, and is not due to happen yet.
AQA papers are marked in England, then scanned and emailed to India for the scores to be input into a database.
They are not marked there. Edexcel has sent old papers to Australian examiners in a trial, not “live” ones. Both boards and OCR, said they had never marked GCSE and A-level papers overseas.
And nor does the company which oversees the marking of national tests.
