Tide is high

Plans have surfaced for a major reconstruction of London’s oldest free public aquarium. The Horniman Museum aims to open a new and exciting undersea exhibition next spring which will contain seven distinctive aquatic zones, ranging from British pond life, including viewing dens for microscopic marine life, to a spectacular tropical mangrove swamp, and a Fijian coral reef. One zone will explore the world of the jellyfish and an interactive learning zone will feature 3D images to illustrate the basis of all ocean life, plankton. The team plan to pump the smell of the sea into the area to create a realistic and evocative experience. www.horniman.ac.uk
