Time to be wary

Paul Fallon, head of children and families services at Barnet Council in London, speaking at the Time to Care conference in Glasgow (TESS last week), said he was wary about being described as an “expert” at such events.

The only definition of “expert” he was prepared to accept was the one he had heard from Paul Cavadino of Nacro, the crime reduction charity: an “ex”

as in “has-been”, and “spurt” as in “drip under pressure”.
