A health trust which employed a school nurse found guilty last week of professional misconduct failed to check why he had left his previous job.
Richard Davies had been dismissed from his previous appointment at an English school. Last week, the Nursing and Midwifery Council said he had engaged in “inappropriate physical contact” with male pupils at Blaencaerau junior school, near Bridgend, although it accepted his motives were not sexual. Bro Morgannwg health trust said it had since changed its procedures to ensure previous employers are contacted to verify reasons for leaving given by new staff.
