Turkish diploma aid

30th April 2010, 1:00am

Nine English colleges have helped develop a diploma programme to ease a growing backlog of higher education applicants in Turkey. Turkish students will complete a preparatory year in English followed by a first year in a Turkish higher vocational school, which are part of universities, and then complete their HND qualification in an English further education college. Successful students can then progress to, and complete, a degree at an English college or university. These include Hackney Community College, City College Brighton and Hove, City College Norwich, City College Sunderland, College of North West London and Dudley, Bradford, Havering and Wakefield colleges. They will support 655 Turkish students in the first cohort and work with 16 Turkish institutions.
