A debate among Twitter followers about pushy parents revealed passionate views on the issue. Some teachers shared horror stories, while others insisted that they prefer parents to be proactive rather than passive about their child’s education.

New parent not happy her child wasn’t “settling” after a week. Told me she pays my wages and therefore I should do more #pushyparent

One student told me her mum made her “practise sitting silently” after I gave her the target to put her hand up rather than call out.

Would rather have pushy, overly demanding parents than disengaged, uninterested and neglectful parents who don’t care.

The best way to deal with #PushyParents is to get them onside and be proactive, seek them out over all the “little” things. Build trust.
