The new college-led organisation charged with improving the quality of further education is to be run by two top principals.

Ioan Morgan, principal of Warwickshire College, will be chief executive of the as yet unnamed body, which starts work in April and replaces the Quality Improvement Agency and the Centre for Excellence in Leadership. The chair of the body will be Ruth Silver, principal of Lewisham College.

“This new organisation will bring to the sector, in time, a longed-for vision, autonomy and authority,” she said. “I am delighted to be its inaugural chair and look forward to working with our great colleagues to contribute to and shape its success. This isn’t just any new organisation - it’s our organisation.”
