Judy has all the makings of the perfect primary school visitor: she doesn’t swear, answer back or come out with any controversial viewpoints. That’s because Judy is a cow.
She was welcomed with open arms to the Windsor Clive Junior School in Ely, Cardiff, as part of its Food for Thought scheme, which teaches young people about where food comes from.
Judy, a lovely brown and white specimen, was duly milked in front of the intrigued children, who enjoyed a cow-themed party as part of the initiative. They also learnt where various fruits come from and were given the opportunity to make bread.
The school felt a bit like a farm, admits teacher Sharon Hanford, but it was well worth it. Judy did not make a mess and behaved impeccably throughout. The pupils, she added, followed suit.
