The NUT and the Musicians’ Union have formed a “joint partnership” to fight cuts to music services. They are concerned that spending could be reduced by up to 10 per cent because of cuts to local authority budgets. Diane Widdison, national organiser for teaching at the Musicians’ Union, said: “Over a third of music services have already issued redundancy notices and it remains to be seen whether any of this damage can be undone.”
