Watch your driving

Road safety week is November 5-11 this year, and the theme is child pedestrian and cyclist safety.

Schools are recommended to use the week to run road safety lessons and assemblies and a range of other activities.

“Watch out there’s a kid about” is part of the campaign which will push for 20mph safety zones around schools and homes where children walk and cycle. The campaign will also seek increased investment in pedestrian crossings and cycle paths, and compulsory road safety education for children of all ages.

Curriculum requirements and facts about children’s deaths and injuries are available online, as are teaching guides for pre-school, primary and secondary.
